French Mediterranean Coast

The bridge now ends at this building which houses two small chapels. According to legend, St Benezet, a young shepherd at the time, heard our Lord's voice instructing him to have the bridge built. St Benezet Chapel was built in the 1100s and The Shepherd's tomb lies in this chapel. The Chapel of St Nicolas was built during the 1700s and used by the boatmen of the Rhone River to hold services.
